Albert Collins was born in Leona, USA on 1 October, 1932 and he died the 24 November 1993.  He was a guitarist, singer and musician. Known as "The Master of the Telecaster" and "The Iceman" he developed his own sound and style based around his passion for Texas, Mississippi and Chicago blues sounds and styles.  He is cousin of the legendary Lightnin' Hopkins and was taught to play by his cousin William Young. 

Collins formed his first band in 1952 and only a few years later was headlining clubs in Houston.  Collin began recording in 1960 and produced many singles including the big seller "Frosty".  He broke into the rock 'n' roll scene in the mid 60's following his move to kansas city and then California.  He released three albums produced by members of canned hear and started playing on the San Francisco circuit.  In 1978 he signed to Alligator and his Album 'Ice Pickin' gave him his greatest success.

Collins has guested with artists such as Gary Moore, David Bowie, Jack Bruce, John Mayall, B.B. King, Robert Cray, Branford Marsalis and John Lee Hooker.

Collins fell ill during his show in Switzerland in July 1993 and was diagnosed shortly after with lung cancer.  He died in November at the age of 61.
